Terms of service
The agreement between your business and us for Stillsite, in plain words.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Stillsite is a service of Smarter Business Tech Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 16362343, registered office Lytchett House, 13 Freeland Park, Wareham Road, Poole, Dorset BH16 6FA (“we” and “us”). These terms are the agreement between us and the business that uses Stillsite (“you”).
They cover everything we provide as Stillsite: rebuilding your website, hosting it and looking after it, Stevie, the packs you add, and any other work we agree with you. Our help centre says how each part works, and our Pricing page gives the prices. Where a written quote we give you for a piece of work says something different from these terms, the quote applies to that piece of work.
Stillsite is for businesses. By agreeing to these terms you confirm that you use Stillsite for your trade, business or profession, as a company, a partnership or a sole trader, and not as a consumer.
When they apply. These terms apply from when you ask us to go ahead with your rebuild, or add a payment method on your billing page, whichever comes first. Whoever agrees for your business confirms that they may.
2. What we provide
The rebuild. We rebuild your existing website on Stillsite and show it to you on a preview. While the offer lasts, the rebuild is free. Nothing goes live until you approve it, and if you decide not to go ahead you owe us nothing for it.
Hosting. From the day your website goes live we serve it, look after its certificate, deliver its form messages to the address you choose, watch it, keep every version of it and check every change before it is published. Prices, packs and tokens lists everything hosting includes.
Stevie and the packs on your plan, as sections 4 and 5 say.
Other work, such as a redesign or a new feature, is quoted before we start, and starts when you accept the quote.
How we work. We provide Stillsite with reasonable care and skill. We aim to keep your website available all the time, but we cannot promise that it will never be interrupted: the services it runs on can fail, and now and then we need to do maintenance, which we keep short. We improve how Stillsite works over time, and we do not take away anything your plan includes, except that a feature in beta may change or end.
3. Changes to your website
Every change to your website, whether Stevie makes it or we do, is shown on a preview first and goes live only when someone your business has allowed to approve changes approves it. Please check the preview before approving, including any wording, prices and figures: what you approve is your decision. Every version is kept, so any change can be undone.
4. Stevie
Stevie is an AI web developer, powered by Anthropic’s Claude. It makes the changes your people ask for, and answers their questions about your website.
- AI can make mistakes. Stevie’s changes and answers can be wrong or incomplete, which is why every change waits on a preview for your approval.
- The allowance. Each Stevie pack comes with a monthly allowance for your website, shared by everyone who asks Stevie for changes. When it runs out, Stevie may pause until it renews, until you move to a larger pack, or until you buy a top-up, where we offer one.
- What Stevie will not do. Stevie may decline a request that would break these terms or the law, or that it cannot do safely. We can then quote for it as a piece of work.
- Your content stays yours. We do not use your content or your requests to train AI models.
- The beta. Stevie is in beta. While it is, Stevie and the people who may email it are free, and how Stevie works may change. When the beta ends we give you at least 30 days’ notice of Stevie’s prices, and you can choose your pack, or turn Stevie off, before they apply.
5. The packs
The compliance pack. We lock the regulated wording you give us, hold any change that touches it, or touches rates, fees, percentages or lender names, until your named approver approves it, and keep a record of who approved what and when. The wording, and your firm’s compliance with the rules that apply to it, stay your responsibility: we do not give legal or regulatory advice, and the pack does not replace your own checks.
Mailshots, where we offer them to you. When you email your contacts through Stillsite, you are the sender. You are responsible for your list, for having each contact’s permission or another lawful basis to email them, and for what you send. Every mailshot carries an unsubscribe link and we stop emailing anyone who uses it. We may pause a send if complaints or bounces pass the levels our email services allow, and we tell you why.
Other packs are described when you add them.
6. Your people
Your website’s Owner decides who in your business can see its dashboard, ask for changes and approve them, and looks after your billing page. You are responsible for who you give access to, for what they ask for and approve, and for keeping their sign-in to themselves. If you think someone has access who should not, tell us straight away through the support form.
7. Your content
It is yours. The words, pictures, documents and other material on your website, and the messages your visitors send through its forms, belong to you, or to whoever you have them from.
What you let us do with it. You give us permission to copy your existing website’s content for the rebuild, and to store, adapt, publish and back up your content as we need to in order to provide Stillsite, while these terms last and for the time we keep it afterwards (section 13).
What you promise. You have the right to use everything you ask us to publish, and it is lawful. You are responsible for your website’s content, including anything Stevie or we have written for you that you approve.
What is ours. The software, templates, designs and tools we use to build and run Stillsite are ours or our suppliers’. When you leave, you may keep using the files of your website, including the parts our templates draw, for your own business’s website.
8. What you must not do
You must not use Stillsite to publish or send anything that:
- is unlawful, misleading, defamatory or harmful, or infringes anyone’s rights;
- contains malicious code, or tries to break into or overload any system;
- is spam, or email to people who have not agreed to receive it;
- pretends to come from someone else.
You must not try to get around Stillsite’s checks, or resell Stillsite, without our written agreement. If something on your website breaks this section or the law, we may take it down or pause your website (section 12), and we tell you why.
9. Your domain
Your domain stays registered to you. If you would rather we looked after it, we do so for you and transfer it to the provider you name whenever you ask. Any charge for moving your domain to us is agreed before we start, and while we look after it we add its renewal fee to your next invoice, at cost.
10. Prices and paying
The prices are those on our Pricing page and in the help centre, in pounds sterling, plus VAT.
Nothing is payable until your website goes live, except a one-off charge we agree with you beforehand, such as onboarding, moving your domain or other work, which is billed when it is agreed.
Monthly charges. From the day it goes live, each website is billed monthly in advance on its own plan: hosting, its Stevie pack if it has one, its other packs, and each person after the first who may email Stevie. You pay by card, or by Direct Debit where we offer it, saved on your billing page, and each payment is taken automatically. A change your Owner makes, such as adding a person or changing Stevie’s pack, takes effect straight away and is charged, or credited, for the part of the month that is left. Invoices are emailed to your website’s Owner, or to the billing email you set.
Paying late. We may charge interest and compensation on a late payment under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
Price changes. Hosting and the compliance pack are fixed prices for each term: a change to either applies only from the start of your next term, and we tell you at least 60 days before your term ends, so that you can leave instead. Any other price may change with at least 30 days’ notice by email. If a change raises what you pay, you may turn off the pack, or remove the person, it applies to before it takes effect, at no charge. A change in the rate of VAT applies from the day it takes effect.
11. If a payment fails
We tell your website’s Owner, and may try the payment again. If it is still unpaid 14 days after it was due, we may pause Stevie and changes to your website until it is paid; your website stays online. If it is still unpaid 30 days after it was due, we may end these terms for that website after giving you 7 days’ notice by email (section 13).
12. Pausing the service
We may pause all or part of Stillsite for your website, straight away if it cannot wait, when we need to protect your website, our other customers or our systems, when the law requires it, or when you seriously break section 8. We tell you why, and restart it as soon as the reason has gone.
13. The term, and leaving
The term. Each website’s hosting is for a term of twelve months from the day it goes live. At the end of each term it renews for another twelve months, unless you have told us at least 30 days before the end that you are leaving. Stevie’s pack, the other packs and the people who may email Stevie are not part of the term: they can be changed or turned off month by month.
Leaving at the end of a term. Tell us through the support form at least 30 days before your term ends, and your website’s service ends with it. There is no fee for leaving.
Leaving during a term. You may leave before a term is up, but the hosting charges for the rest of that term then become payable.
Before your website goes live you may stop at any time and owe us nothing, except a one-off charge we agreed in advance for work already done.
When either of us may end these terms. Either of us may end these terms for a website if the other seriously breaks them and does not put it right within 14 days of being asked to. We may also end them if a payment is unpaid as section 11 says, or if your business becomes insolvent or stops trading. If we stop providing Stillsite, we give you at least 90 days’ notice and refund anything you have paid for the time after the end. When these terms end because we broke them, or because we stopped providing Stillsite, the rest of the term is not payable.
When you leave, your website stays online until the end date. We give you a download of your whole website, every page, picture and document as files, and your domain stays yours; if we look after it, we transfer it to the provider you name. 30 days after the end date we delete your website and the records we hold for it, such as its form messages and ratings, except what the law requires us to keep, such as invoices.
14. Personal data
Our own. For the people we deal with at your business, such as their names, email addresses and what they send us, we are the controller, and our privacy notice explains how we handle their data.
What we handle for you. For personal data on and through your website, such as the messages your visitors send through its forms and, with Mailshots, your contact list, you are the controller and we are your processor. The schedule at the end of these terms is our agreement for that, as UK data protection law requires.
15. Confidentiality
Each of us keeps the other’s confidential information private, uses it only for these terms, and shares it only with people who need it for them and keep it private too, our suppliers included, or where the law requires.
16. Our responsibility to you
- Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited.
- We are not responsible for loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or anticipated savings, or for any indirect or consequential loss.
- We are not responsible for content you give us or approve, for your compliance with the rules of your trade or your regulator, or for services you get from others, such as your domain registrar or your email provider.
- Otherwise, our total liability to you for each website, for everything arising from these terms, is limited to the charges you paid us for that website in the twelve months before the event that gave rise to the claim.
17. Things outside our control
We are not responsible for a delay or failure caused by something beyond our reasonable control, such as a failure of the internet or of a supplier’s service, a power cut, a cyber attack, or an act of government. We tell you, and do what we reasonably can to limit the effect.
18. Changes to these terms
We give at least 30 days’ notice of a change to these terms, by email to your website’s Owner and on this page, with the date. A correction, or a change the law requires, may take effect sooner. If a change is significantly worse for you, you may leave before it takes effect without paying for the rest of your term.
19. Notices
We write to your website’s Owner by email, or to your billing email about payment. You write to us through the help centre’s support form. A formal legal notice may also be sent by post to our registered office.
20. The legal points
- These terms, any quote you accept, and our prices as section 10 says, are the whole agreement between us about Stillsite.
- You may not transfer these terms to someone else without our agreement. We may transfer them to a business that takes over Stillsite, and we tell you if we do.
- Nobody else has rights under these terms.
- If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales decide any dispute about them.
Schedule: personal data we process for you
This schedule is the agreement the UK GDPR (Article 28) requires when we process personal data on your behalf.
What we process, and why.
- The purpose: hosting your website, delivering its form messages, making the changes you ask for and, with Mailshots, sending your emails, as these terms describe.
- For how long: while these terms last, and the 30 days afterwards that section 13 gives.
- The data: names, email addresses, phone numbers and anything else your visitors or your people put into your forms or your requests; personal data in your website’s content, such as your staff’s names and photos; and, with Mailshots, your contacts’ names and email addresses and the record of their consent and of each send.
- Whose data: your website’s visitors and enquirers, your customers and contacts, and your staff.
Our duties. We:
- process the data only on your instructions, which are these terms and what you ask for through Stillsite, unless the law requires otherwise, in which case we tell you first unless the law forbids it; and we tell you if we think an instruction breaks data protection law;
- make sure everyone who processes it is bound to keep it confidential;
- keep it secure, with appropriate technical and organisational measures;
- use sub-processors only as this schedule allows;
- help you, as far as we reasonably can, to answer people who exercise their rights over their data;
- help you meet your duties on security, on reporting a breach, on data protection impact assessments and on consulting the Information Commissioner, as far as what we process and know allows;
- delete the data at the end, as section 13 says, or return it to you first if you ask, unless the law requires us to keep it;
- give you the information you reasonably need to show that we meet these duties, and allow and help with audits, inspections included, by you or an auditor you appoint, on reasonable notice;
- tell you without undue delay after we become aware of a breach affecting the data, with what we know, so that you can meet your own duties.
Sub-processors. You give us general permission to use other companies to process the data for us, such as our hosting, email and AI providers. We tell you which on request through the support form. We bind each to data protection terms as strict as these and remain responsible for them. We give your website’s Owner at least 30 days’ notice by email before adding or replacing one, so that you can object; if you object and we cannot meet your objection, you may leave without paying for the rest of your term.
Outside the UK. Where a sub-processor processes the data outside the UK, we make sure the transfer is protected as UK data protection law requires.
Your duties. You make sure you have a lawful basis for the personal data you ask us to process, and that your website’s privacy notice tells your visitors about it.
These terms were written on 31 October 2026.
